Project Gutenberg treasure: Bobbie Bubbles by Maud Gridley Budlong and E. Hugh Sherwood

Who can tell what book will spark a lifelong delight in reading and books?

For me, visiting my maternal grandparents was not complete until Bobbie Bubbles left my tiny hands and was read to me. Since it was written in 1914, the Art Deco illustrations were beautiful. They captivated me completely. I could see myself in Bobbie’s place: flying along in a magic soap bubble, meeting geese, nearly being captured by the King of Mars, going to Flower Land…

BOBBIE BUBBLES  probably helped me prepare for reading CS Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien. At the very least, it helped me become an early reader. This little book is available for free at Project Gutenberg. It comes in several formats:

  • HTML to be read online-a good way to see if you actually want the book for yourself
  • EPUB with images
  • EPUB without images
  • Kindle with images
  • Kindle without images
  • Plain text
